An austenitic alloy of chromium, nickel, and manganese, stainless steel 202 has 17–19% chromium, 4–6% nickel, and 7.5–10% manganese. Additionally, it has up to 0.15% carbon, which increases strength. Excellent toughness, moderate corrosion resistance, and a good tensile strength between 515 and 700 MPa are all provided by SS 202 channels. This grade is an affordable substitute for higher-nickel stainless steels because it retains its formability and weldability. It is most appropriate for indoor or less aggressive atmospheric applications needing durability and structural integrity, even though it works well in mildly corrosive environments.
