The stabilised austenitic stainless steel alloy known as Stainless Steel 348 Channel is mainly made up of 17–20% chromium and 8–11% nickel, with the addition of niobium (columbium) for stabilisation. This addition improves high-temperature performance and increases resistance to intergranular corrosion following welding. The alloy exhibits outstanding resistance to creep and stress rupture, with a tensile strength of about 515 MPa and a yield strength of about 205 MPa. SS 348 is perfect for pressure vessels, chemical processing, and thermal environments where strength and stability are crucial because it maintains its mechanical qualities even at high temperatures.
