Stainless Steel 440C Angle is a martensitic, high-carbon steel that contains trace amounts of silicon and manganese along with roughly 16–18% chromium and 0.95–1.20% carbon. When heat-treated, it can reach 60 HRC, the highest hardness of any stainless steel, which makes it extremely resistant to wear. The alloy offers a good strength-to-weight ratio and a tensile strength of approximately 760–1000 MPa. SS 440C performs exceptionally well in mechanical applications where strength and edge retention are crucial, despite its moderate resistance to corrosion. It can achieve high polish for functional or decorative finishes and is magnetic.
