The ferritic stainless steel alloy known as Stainless Steel 409 Channel is mainly made up of 10.5–11.75% chromium, with a lower carbon content (~0.08%) and titanium added for better corrosion resistance and weldability. With a tensile strength of about 380–450 MPa, a yield strength of about 170 MPa, and an elongation of 20%, it provides moderate mechanical strength. SS 409 is appropriate for heat-exposed environments because it exhibits exceptional oxidation resistance at high temperatures. It is a sensible option for structural applications needing durability at a lower cost because of its good formability and corrosion resistance in mild atmospheres.
