Austenitic stainless steel alloys that have been strengthened with nitrogen, mainly Nitronic 50 and Nitronic 60, are used to make nitronic sheets and plates. They are composed of nitrogen, manganese, molybdenum, and chromium (about 20–23%), with nickel and silicon added in balance. High tensile strength (up to 895 MPa), outstanding yield strength (double that of 304/316), and exceptional resistance to galling and wear are all provided by these alloys. They provide exceptional resistance to oxidation and pitting and retain their non-magnetic characteristics even after cold working. Nitronic alloys are appropriate for a variety of settings because they maintain their mechanical qualities at high and cryogenic temperatures.
