High-strength aluminium alloys, known as Aluminium 2014 Circles, are primarily made of aluminium (about 90.7%), with significant alloying elements of copper (3.9–5%), magnesium (0.2–0.8%), and manganese (0.4–1.2%). This heat-treatable alloy has a yield strength of roughly 350 MPa and a tensile strength of about 450–500 MPa. It frequently needs a protective finish and has good machinability, moderate fatigue resistance, and fair corrosion resistance. The alloy is preferred for applications requiring high strength and good formability, particularly in structural and aerospace components, and is commonly used in T4 or T6 tempers.
