The main constituents of Monel 400 Foil, a solid-solution nickel-copper alloy, are nickel (63% min) and copper (28%–34%), with trace amounts of iron, manganese, silicon, and carbon. Excellent resistance to alkalis, acids, steam, and seawater is provided by the alloy. It has an elongation of up to 35%, a yield strength of about 170 MPa, and a tensile strength of 480–620 MPa. Because Monel 400 is extremely ductile, has good weldability, thermal conductivity, and maintains its mechanical qualities over a broad temperature range, it can be used in difficult-to-weld situations.
