With additions of copper and niobium, Stainless Steel 17-4 PH is a precipitation-hardening martensitic stainless steel that has about 17% chromium and 4% nickel. It provides outstanding corrosion resistance in the majority of environments and a tensile strength of up to 1310 MPa. A straightforward heat treatment procedure can harden the material, increasing its mechanical strength without causing noticeable distortion.
