Stainless Steel 201 is an austenitic alloy based on manganese that has a carbon content of up to 0.15% and contains 16–18% chromium, 3.5–5.5% nickel, and 5.5–7.5% manganese. Because of this composition, SS 201 angles have good toughness, moderate corrosion resistance, and high strength. It maintains respectable formability and weldability while providing a tensile strength of 520–750 MPa. It is more difficult and expensive than SS 304, but it offers less resistance to corrosion. The alloy is appropriate for cold working and fabrication and works well in indoor and mildly corrosive environments.
