Stainless Steel 202 is an austenitic alloy with up to 0.15% carbon and 17–19% chromium, 4–6% nickel, and 7–9% manganese. Compared to 304 stainless steel, it is stronger and harder due to its higher manganese and nitrogen content. Particularly in mildly corrosive environments, SS 202 foils show good ductility, moderate corrosion resistance, and tensile strength between 520 and 700 MPa. In addition to providing good formability and weldability for thin foil fabrication, its mechanical qualities make it appropriate for applications needing toughness and wear resistance.
