20–22% chromium, 10–12% nickel, 0.14–0.20% nitrogen, and trace amounts of rare earth metals for increased oxidation resistance make up 253MA stainless steel. It has a yield strength of about 310 MPa and a tensile strength of about 600 MPa. Up to 1150°C, the material retains its strength and resistance to oxidation. It is perfect for high-temperature industrial processes because it offers good structural stability and resistance to nitridation, sulfidation, and carburisation.
