The austenitic alloy stainless steel 304/304L, which is mainly made up of 18% chromium and 8% nickel, has outstanding resistance to corrosion and oxidation. 304L’s low carbon content improves weldability and reduces the possibility of carbide precipitation during the welding process. These grades have elongation between 40 and 60 percent, yield strength of about 215 MPa, and tensile strength between 505 and 860 MPa. Their excellent surface finish, superior formability, and good mechanical qualities make them perfect for both structural and sanitary applications, and their maximum service temperature is 870°C (1600°F).
