The austenitic alloy stainless steel 304 has a low carbon content (maximum 0.08%) and is made up of 18–20% chromium and 8–10.5% nickel. In a variety of chemical and atmospheric conditions, this composition offers outstanding resistance to oxidation and corrosion. In addition to exceptional ductility and formability, SS 304 channels have a tensile strength of 515–750 MPa and a good yield strength of 205 MPa.
