With a composition of roughly 22% chromium and 12% nickel, stainless steel 309S foils are low-carbon versions of SS 309 that provide improved resistance to corrosion and oxidation. Weldability is improved by the reduced carbon content, which reduces carbide precipitation during welding. These foils have outstanding high-temperature strength, elongation of about 40%, and tensile and yield strengths of about 550 MPa and 205 MPa, respectively. Because of its stability at temperatures as high as 980°C, SS 309S is perfect for thermal processing applications. It also offers exceptional resistance to oxidation and long-term structural integrity when used continuously.
