The austenitic alloy stainless steel 310S has a low carbon content (maximum 0.08%), 24–26% chromium, and 19–22% nickel, which improves its weldability and resistance to sensitisation. At temperatures as high as 1100°C, SS 310S angles show outstanding resistance to oxidation. They provide toughness at high and cryogenic temperatures, a tensile strength of 515–700 MPa, and good creep resistance. The alloy offers good fabrication and welding properties, retains its mechanical stability under thermal cycling, and is ideal for applications involving heat exposure and corrosive environments.
