Stainless Steel 316H is comprised of approximately 16–18% chromium, 10–14% nickel, 2–3% molybdenum, and higher carbon (0.04–0.10%) than 316 to provide higher strength at temperature. SS 316H has a tensile strength of 515 MPa and yield strength of 205 MPa. SS 316H has good pitting and crevice corrosion resistance in chloride environments. The additional carbon allows reasonable creep resistance under higher temperatures and is suitable for high-pressure, high-heat applications. It offers reasonable ductility and weldability, which is important in the fabrication of products for critical environments.
