The main constituents of Stainless Steel 347, an austenitic stainless steel alloy stabilised by niobium, are 17–19% chromium and 9–13% nickel. Columbium and tantalum are added to stop intergranular corrosion. This grade resists carbide precipitation during welding and maintains strength at high temperatures. It has an elongation of 40%, a yield strength of 205 MPa, and a tensile strength of about 515 MPa. Additionally, SS 347 has outstanding stress-rupture and oxidation resistance, which makes it perfect for applications requiring extended heat exposure or frequent thermal cycling. Because it is non-magnetic, the alloy can be used in structural and pressure applications.
