Stainless Steel 405, a ferritic stainless steel alloy, has a low carbon content and 11.5–14.5% chromium, with aluminium added to improve stability and weldability. This grade provides good resistance to oxidation and moderate resistance to corrosion. Its elongation is 20%, its yield strength is 170 MPa, and its tensile strength is roughly 380 MPa. Because the alloy is not heat-hardenable, it is perfect for parts that are subjected to high temperatures but don’t need to be extremely strong or resistant to corrosion while still having good formability and machinability.
