The martensitic grade of stainless steel 410 has a carbon content of about 0.15% and 11.5–13.5% chromium, which increases its hardness and strength. Small amounts of silicon, phosphorus, sulphur, and manganese are also present. With a tensile strength of 480–680 MPa, yield strength of 270 MPa, and elongation of 20%, SS 410 has exceptional mechanical qualities. It is very machinable and resists corrosion well in mild conditions. Its hardness can be further increased by heat treatment, which makes it perfect for uses requiring moderate corrosion resistance and wear resistance.
