With trace amounts of manganese, silicon, and phosphorus, Stainless Steel 420 Angle is a high-carbon martensitic stainless steel that contains 12–14% chromium and 0.15%–0.40% carbon. Particularly after heat treatment, it provides exceptional hardness, strength, and wear resistance. The alloy has an elongation of about 15%, a yield strength of about 500 MPa, and a tensile strength of 700–850 MPa. SS 420 is perfect for applications needing high mechanical strength and surface durability because it is magnetic in both annealed and hardened states and has a moderate resistance to corrosion.
