The high-strength, hardenable martensitic stainless steel alloy known as Stainless Steel 422 Circle is made up of 1% molybdenum, 12% chromium, and trace amounts of tungsten and vanadium for strength and thermal stability. High tensile strength and hardness, up to 1034 MPa, can be obtained by heat treatment. It provides good oxidation resistance up to 1200°F (650°C), and its yield strength usually exceeds 690 MPa.
