Stainless Steel 440B Angle is a martensitic, high-carbon stainless steel that contains roughly 0.75% carbon and 16–18% chromium. In comparison to 440A, it provides better wear and hardness resistance while retaining good corrosion resistance. It can achieve exceptional hardness (up to 58 HRC) and a high tensile strength of up to 760 MPa when heat-treated appropriately. Additionally, the alloy offers good edge retention and moderate toughness. When annealed, SS 440B is magnetic, and heat treatment can improve its mechanical properties for use in cutting tools and other industrial settings.
