Stainless Steel 440C is a high-carbon martensitic stainless steel alloy, primarily made up of 16–18% Chromium, 0.95–1.20% Carbon, along with trace amounts of Manganese, Silicon, and Molybdenum. It delivers remarkable hardness (up to 60 HRC when heat-treated), outstanding wear resistance, and moderate corrosion resistance. Its mechanical properties include a tensile strength ranging from 760–1080 MPa and good dimensional stability. While it may not be as corrosion-resistant as austenitic grades, 440C shines in applications where hardness and strength are essential. It’s magnetic and can be heat-treated for enhanced mechanical performance.
